Jogathon

What is it?
To put it simply, the Jogathon is an event where students run/walk around a ¼ mile course within 1 hour. These students are sponsored by others, either on a per lap basis or at a flat fee.

Why use a Jogathon for our fundraiser this fall?
We are hoping that each student will generate $200 in donations to help us reach our goal of $25,000 to help renovate our science lab. The science lab will be relocated and furnished with modern equipment including 25 epoxy resin countertop workstations with gas and water access, new lighting, fume hood and safety center, projector, lap top for instructor, and new cabinets to store equipment. The total cost for this renovation is approximately $70,000.All funds raised to help us attain this goal will honor and bring glory to God.  In Romans 12:8, Paul writes, “if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”

Who will participate in the Jogathon?
All students in grades K-12 will participate on Friday, October 14th. There will be 3 rotations each followed by a celebration lunch for the students, staff and volunteers.

What do I have to do?
Each student received an address label sheet in their Jogathon packet.  This label sheet needs to be returned with the names of those persons who are potential sponsors.  If additional sheets are needed, you may use a blank sheet of paper.  Please note that these names will not be used for any other purpose than for the Jogathon.

PLEASE PRINT NEATLY IN BLACK PEN OR TYPE, the name, address, and zip code of each potential sponsor.  Please be sure that all of the information is provided.
No later than Friday, September 16, the labels must be returned to the school (Elementary: classroom teachers; MS/HS: first period teachers).  Upon receipt of the labels, we will be mailing letters to the people on the list asking them to sponsor your child in this year’s JOGATHON.
Sponsors may be family members, relatives, neighbors and close friends.  A great source for these names are Christmas card lists.  Also remember those out-of-state relatives and friends.  People that you transact business with are potential sponsors, i.e., dentist, doctor, hair stylist, music lesson teacher, etc.  If a couple is living under the same roof, you should list as one (i.e., Mr. & Mrs. John Smith).

Donors can also double or triple their gift to make an even greater impact on NLCS by contacting their company’s charity matching gift administrator. Please have donors send their company’s corporate matching form with their gift to NLCS.
Students who have a sibling or siblings within grades K-12 may each submit their own label sheet, but do not duplicate names.  For prize purposes, the total number of labels will count equally for all siblings ~ one letter will be sent to the donor and donations will be divided equally.
All mailing for the JOGATHON will be sent bulk mail from the school to make things easier for everyone.
